Lone Star Daylily Society Daylily Bucks Incentive Program

How your Program Works

Program:  The Lone Star Daylily Society Executive Board proposed an incentive program to the membership in 2005.  The Program is an effort to encourage members to participate in the activities of the Society and provide services vital to the operation of the Society. The Program was adopted by vote of the membership and became effective October 1, 2005.  The Program is referred to as the Lone Star Daylily Bucks Program. The following definition of an active member was also adopted at that time.

Active Member:  An active member is defined as a member who:

 1)    Pays their Lone Star Daylily Society membership dues in a timely              manner.

2)     Attends six (6) of the Society’s monthly meetings during the Award Period.

3)     Participates as a Host/Hostess for one (1) Society monthly meeting within        the Award Period.

Daylily Gift Plant:  The Society may, and historically has, awarded members with a daylily gift plant each October.  Currently the value of the plant will be $20.00 and will be awarded to active members only.  To encourage Society participation beyond active membership level, the Lone Star Daylily Buck Program provides extra incentive.  Members may earn Daylily Bucks be performing services in the following Award Categories.

Award Categories:  The following Award Categories were established.

1)     Serving as an Officer of the Society; President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice       President, Secretary or Treasurer.

2)     Serving as Flower Show Chairperson, Flower Show Co-Chairperson, or Flower       Show Plant Sale Chairperson

3)     Serving as a Society or Flower Show Committee Chairperson

4)     Making a flower show entry: limited to one (1) per Active Member per Award      Period.

5)     Introducing a person who becomes a member of Lone Star Daylily Society.

6)     Being a member of the American Hemerocallis Society.

7)     Making a presentation or presenting a program for a LSDS Meeting or Activity.

8)     Assisting the various Society and Flower Show Committees.

9)     Any other contribution recognized by the President as valuable to the Society.

10)   Participation in the Annual Flower Show Set-up.

11)   Being the eldest member of the Lone Star Daylily Society.

12)   Participation in the annual AHS Popularity Poll.

The amount of Daylily Bucks awarded for each Award Category is established by the membership or in some cases, the President of the Society, and is subject to change.  Please consult the current Lone Star Daylily Society Yearbook for the current Award Category Daylily Buck award amounts.

Award Period:  Daylily Bucks are earned form September 1 to August 31 of the following year.  This period is designated the Award Period.

Daylily Buck Value:  The Executive Board will meet near the end of the Award Period and establish a real dollar value for the Daylily Bucks for the current Award Period.  Since the funds of the Society will fluctuate from year to year, the value of the Daylily Bucks must be determined each Award Period.  The President of the Society or designate will present the Executive Board’s recommendation to the membership.  Approval of the Daylily Bucks value will be by vote of the membership for each Award Period.

Redemption:  At the end of the Award Period, accrued Daylily Bucks are tallied for each member.  If the member meets the criteria for Active Membership, the Daylily Bucks will be awarded to the member.  Daylily Bucks are good for one purpose only.  They are to be applied to the value of the Daylily Gift Plant/s that an Active Member will receive, usually in October of each year.  For example, if Daylily Bucks are determined to be equal to $0.50 each and you have accumulated 100 Daylily Bucks for the Award Period, your real dollar value award will be $50.00.  You may then apply the $50.00 to the $20.00 Gift Daylily Plant an Active Member will receive and order a $70.00 Gift Daylily Plant.  You may also order any combination of plants to equal that amount. If you do not wish to spend all the Daylily Bucks awarded to you, any remaining may be carried over to the following year. Be advised however, that the Executive Board will recommend a value to the membership for the value of the Daylily Bucks at the end of each Award Period.  The value of the Daylily Bucks approved by the membership will be the value of all Daylily Bucks redeemed for that period.  Although the Daylily Bucks may be carried over, the value cannot be.

Since this is a new program for the Society, the Executive Board encourages your input.  Please let the Program Administrator or a Club Officer know if you have a suggestion or comment concerning this program.
