Mike & Susan Peppers

The Garden of Mike and Susan Peppers

League City, Texas

An AHS Official Display Garden

After moving to Texas in 1999, Mike was introduced to daylilies by co-worker Edgar Tarrant. Mike and Susan soon purchased their first ten cultivars at “Payne’s in the Grass Daylily Farm” in Pearland and planted them at their new home to see what would happen. What happened was that Mike became obsessed! In the years since then, flower beds have been expanded, more have been added, and all have been expanded some more. The garden collection now includes over 300 different cultivars with dates of hybridization ranging from the first known daylily to 2007. Since each flower lasts only one day (“day” lily), the yard is different each morning of the bloom season. Neighbors will attest to seeing Mike and Susan exploring at just about every sun-up.

All are welcome to come, visit, and enjoy the daylilies. Be careful, though...you might get hooked too!

The daylilies show-off for friends, co-workers, and neighbors during a May 2005 Garden Tour.
